01 FRICTIONS UNHEIMLICH
"Only the act of resistance resists death, whether in the form of a work of art or in the form of the struggle of men."

In this essay, I delve into the perception of our bodies through movement and light. Over the course of more than four years, I have studied fighting and dance scenes, concentrating on the subtle energies that emerge through the skin. Within the fluidity of movement, light exposes the vulnerability of our bodies—the struggles and encounters, the interplay of pleasure and pain. As Marie Bardet explores in her book "Pensar Con Mover" (To Think Moving), our skin becomes a medium, with its own internal and external beasts, imbued with a shared essence in every sense, profoundly intertwined.
An exploration of light, strength, and the staging of motion to describe altered states. The installation consisted of a video projection on a screen made with many layers of transparent fabric (tulle). The screens hung from opposite walls, one after the other. A couple of piezoelectric microphones hung from one of the layers in the middle. These devices were amplified, and their sound was transformed by delay pedals. The soundtrack, composed by myself and a collaborator, synchronized with the sounds produced live by the microphones. Both aspects, the soundtrack and the live sounds, were presented simultaneously.
The sound design incorporated real "frictions" — objects and various raw materials played as instruments and recorded in an analog manner. The room was enveloped in complete darkness, except for the light emitted by the projector. This method of presentation, aided by the screens, fostered an intimate yet somewhat claustrophobic atmosphere, where the images floated, replicating a dreamy altered state.
